EYES WIDE SHUT

comments
I wouldnt put to much hope on this one. Anyway the director is dead!

Release Date: July 16th, 1999

Distributor: Warner Brothers

Cast: Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Sydney Pollack, Marie Richardson, Thomas Gibson, Leelee Sobieski (unconfirmed), Alan Cumming, Todd Field, Tres Hanley, Vinessa Shaw, Madison Eginton

Original Version?: As one of the longest shoots in film history, it is rumored that the entire film was already finished, with Harvey Keitel and Jennifer Jason Leigh in the Pollack and Richardson roles. I wonder if Kubrick has secretly stockpiled a version of the movie featuring Keitel and Leigh that would be "discovered" years from now? (Probably not, but it's something that occurred to me...)

Director: Stanley Kubrick (Lolita, Spartacus, 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, many, many more)

The Director's Death: At the age of 70, Stanley Kubrick died on Sunday, March 7th in his home in London of unknown causes. The working print of Eyes Wide Shut had been screened to Warner Brothers executives and the stars only a few days before Kubrick's death.

Screenwriters: Stanley Kubrick (he either writes or co-writes most of his films) and Frederic Raphael (Far From the Madding Crowd)

Based on: The novel Traumnovelle by Arthur Schnitzler

Premise: A psychologist (Cruise) and his wife (Kidman) find themselves drawn into a strange sexual underworld, that includes both of them having affairs, and experimenting with new forms of sexuality. The resulting trip leads this couple on a dizzying psychological voyage into their own identities and their relationship.
